Paola Palma
and Carlo Vannicola, architects and designers as well as the founders
of the Palma & Vannicola firm, work on projects that range from
Exhibit design to Product design, from interior design and architecture
to restoration. They have worked with ASSARREDO, Gruppo Materassi,
putting together and designing the layout project for "La
qualità del dormire" and are part of the scientific committee of
the Quality Mattress Manufacturers Association. For ICE and ASSARREDO
they created and designed the exhibition "Les transformations de
l’habiter" at the Furniture Expo in Paris in January 1996 and
“Il bello Italiano” at the civic museum in Frejus, France
in the same year. For ICE they managed the show, layout and catalogue
for the show "Design ecosensibile" at the International Design Forum in
Singapore in 1996. They are the co-founders of the Cultural Association
MADE - Useful Art and Design – and the gallery of the same name,
in Florence from 1990 to 1995 where they held shows and did research on
the cutting edge themes of Design. Expo layout design projects for
private companies include: Curvet, Controfugas, Di Mauro. They have
been expo stand layout and design consultants for Ceramiche Ragno
(Gruppo Marazzi) since 1999 and have designed new expo layouts for
Cersaie and Bau. As Designers, their work ranges from the furniture
industry – creating furniture and complementary furnishings for
Poltronova, Zeritalia, Curvet, Oliko, B.R.F., MisuraEmme, Diedro as
well as managing the entire furniture line for the Chinese firm Red
Apple - to jewelry, where they have designed the collection "Pyramid"
for Flavio Mancini. They have also done carpet designs in collaboration
with Sisal Collezioni, and industrial design projects, where they have
been collaborating for several years as CETRA (China External Trade
Development Council). consultants with Taiwanese companies, in the
designing of fans for Pan Air Electric, computer cases for Elan Vital,
water distillers for Ariba, clocks for Hoyo Foundry along with many
other works in progress. In Italy they have designed a home gas
detector "Sniffo" for Controfugas, a series of ceramic vases for
Ceramiche Flavia (Gruppo Bitossi), silver vases for Pampaloni and a new
wine bottle design for Terrepicene of Ascoli Piceno. Collaborative
efforts include: Advanced Lighting Technology, Targetti, Promemoria,
Arflex, Eschenbach Porzellan designing special objects and prototypes
for shows. Their awards include: 1st place at the Future Form, Germany
1987, award of merit at the 1st artistic ceramics competition, Capraia
and Limite 1990, recommendation for award In-Arch 1991, 2nd place at
the Young & Design Milano 1994, International award at the Gran
Design, Pesaro 1996.
